My voice is getting older. I want to create 50 new a cappella songs before I’m 50 years old. I believe God wants me to do this for Him and others! Join me for the trip.

Why 50BY50?

I believe with all my heart that God gave me the musical gift of a cappella. I’m getting older and my voice is just starting to show signs of slowing down. There will be a day when I can’t do this anymore.

I want to fulfill my stewardship to the Lord in the best way possible by taking everything I’ve learned in music and creating the highest quality a cappella I’ve ever done. While I still can.

50BY50 is my goal to record 50 a cappella songs by the time I’m 50 years old. I DON’T MAKE MUSIC FOR MYSELF; I WANT TO INCLUDE YOU IN THIS HUGE LIFE PROJECT!

THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO BE A PART:

Patreon gives you the most rewards and has more tiers. YouTube is better-known and is a little simpler. Either option helps my mission! (If you ask me, I slightly prefer Patreon because YouTube takes 30% but Patreon takes about 7%.)

FINISHING STRONG.

50 A CAPPELLA SONGS BY 50 YEARS OLD!

WHAT KIND OF SONGS?

I will be numbering each new arrangement 1-50 so we can all track how far I’m getting. 40 of the 50 songs will be sacred in nature. That will equal 4 a cappella albums of all-sacred content which will complement the current 4 sacred a cappella albums I have already made. They might be classic hymns, newer hymns, originals set for a cappella, or other solid-quality sacred music.

10 of the songs will be romantic or popular in nature. I’ve operated this way since my first amateur album, “Essentially Everson” had 10 sacred and 10 “fun” songs.  I love creating new, clean wedding music for people. Our CD “Today & Always” is such a popular album like this, as is “Happy Together.” When I’ve created 10 arrangements, I’ll release an album. I won’t be mixing the sacred and romantic songs.

DOES THIS MEAN THAT YOU WILL BE DONE WITH MUSIC AFTER 2027?

Absolutely not. The purpose of this project is to finish my a cappella recording while I’m at the top of my ability. I certainly want to be able to sing as long as I’m alive. This just has to do with recording a cappella music which takes 10 times the toll on my voice as “regular” music.

WILL YOU NEVER RECORD A CAPPELLA MUSIC AGAIN AFTER 2027?

I have no idea. I can’t imagine my life without recording a cappella music. Maybe my voice will get stronger through this, and I’ll end up in better vocal shape by 2027. Maybe not.  I just know that as of right now, my voice is still able to handle this kind of recording work, and I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to. I’ve noticed small signs that motivate me to act now. I want to give it my best while I’m at my best!

After 2027, I’m sure there will be ways to be involved with a cappella music other than being a one-man a cappella artist.

WHAT ABOUT PREACHING?

I do not intend on canceling any of the dates that are on my preaching itinerary through 2027. I plan to travel and preach throughout this entire time. It will certainly be a challenge and an adventure!
